1991 Toyota MR2

Pictures above are of our fun dark blue 1991 MR2, normally aspirated. The top picture was taken on the day it was purchased. The other 3 pictures show the car cleaned up and with the new wheels. We bought it with 105K miles in July of 2000. This was a fun little car. There's just something about the sound of that little engine roaring behind you, combined with the engine torque, the smooth shifter, and the cockpit wrapped around you. Supposedly, this car has a 0-60mph time of 8.5 seconds, but its 0-40 time feels quick.
This car was a 5 speed, 130 hp stock car. It has a 2.2L I4 engine with 140 ft-lbs of torque. This particular car has power windows/locks, removable pop-up sunroof, 14" alloy rims (14x6" front, 14x7" rear), intermittent wipers, cruise control, large rear wing, and other goodies.

The car was in good condition, but really needed some attention when we bought it. We also added some custom 16" rims with Yokohama tire, a Pioneer CD player, Eclipse speakers in boxes behind the seats, and Halo spark plugs.
Some things to watch for when buying 91-95 MR2 cars:
- Alternator/O2 sensor - every 60-90K, these seem to need replacement
- Manual trans - second and third gear synchros are known for going out
- Clutch - every 60K or so, the clutch seems to wear out
- T-top seals - they tend to leak after a few years (only on optional t-top cars)
- Rear tires - every 15K or so, these wear out due to the mid-engine design
