1986 Ford Taurus LX

This was a real piece of junk, but it usually started (neutral safety switch was bad) and it ran decent. We got it for $300. It was a rusty monster. It was black with silver plastic around the bottom. It was about half rust covered too. There was some kind of major antifreeze leak, and it used a lot of oil (although there was no smoke), and it drank a lot of gas, but it passed emissions tests somehow! You are probably wondering why we even bought it. We bought it exclusively so we could donate it to our church so they could auction it off, probably to some junkyard. They got some money from it, and we got a small tax writeoff. As soon as the title came, we donated this car. It topped out around 55, and it shook everytime it shifted into overdrive for some reason.
It car had the 3.0L V-6, LX package, digital dashboard, full power (seats/windows/locks), a half-working premium sound system, a coat-hanger antenna, and alloy rims (except for one wheel, which is actually the spare rim and tire). I'm telling you, it was just a beaut!
Things we added:
- Oil and antifreeze....
- Sanded and painted the rust black so it at least looked a LITTLE better
Watch for bad transmissions in Taurus cars between 86 and 92. They had a LOT of problems with them. Our car shifted hard too - it was probably on its way out, but that's alright - it's gone.
